Short Bio:
Shriya has demonstrated the qualities necessary for high success in the demanding academic atmosphere of IB rigor. To begin with, Shriya is an excellent student, with a lively curiosity that makes her dissatisfied with superficial explanations. That curiosity frequently led our seminar down avenues and into areas that, otherwise, would have remained unexplored.Perhaps one of Shriya’s most outstanding characteristics is her independence of thought and h er willingness to express those thoughts.

Carleton University is a public comprehensive university in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Founded in 1942 as Carleton College, a private, non-denominational evening college to serve veterans returning from World War II, the institution was chartered as a university by the provincial government in 1952 through The Carleton University Act. The legislation was subsequently amended in 1957 to give the institution its current name. The university moved to its current campus in 1959, and would expand rapidly throughout the 1960s amid broader efforts by the provincial government to increase support to post-secondary institutions and expand access to higher education.
Carleton, which has produced more than 140,000 alumni, is reputed for its strength in a variety of fields such as humanities, international business, engineering, physics, entrepreneurship, computer science, and many of the disciplines housed in its Faculty of Public Affairs (including international affairs, journalism, political science, political economy, political management, public policy and administration, and legal studies). This course charts a history of the fourth estate in the West from the invention of the printing press to the ascendance of networked digital communication, focusing on the political, economic and technological contexts that have shaped the news media as institutions and industries.Introduction to the techniques journalists use to gather information quickly, accurately and ethically, and to present reports and features in clear, engaging ways. Newsroom exercises provide experience in reporting, writing, editing and using digital tools, including photography and social media.
