BLDE (Deemed to be University) came into existence on 29/2/2008 with the sole objective of providing quality Medical Education and meeting health care needs of the people in this backward region of North Karnataka. Shri B. M. Patil Medical College, Hospital & Research Centre, the only constituent college of the university, was established in 1986.
