Vivekananda Dental College for Women was established in 2007 with an intake of 50 students and over the years, it has grown by leaps and bounds to become one of the highly accomplished dental college affiliated to Tamil Nadu Dr MGR Medical University, Tamilnadu, India. In 2013, the college reached the next milestone with an increase in seats from 50 to 100 seats for the BDS course. We did not stop here the thirst to reach higher pushed up to start the MDS course in 8 specialties in 2015. Bachelor of Dental Surgery or BDS course is an undergraduate course in the field of dentistry. This course helps an aspirant to become a dentist.The duration of BDS degree ranges from 3 years to 5 years. The variation in duration is due to necessity of an internship or a lack thereof. The course can be pursued either in full time mode or in part time mode through correspondence. BDS include clinical practice as a dentist, higher education i.e. pursuing MDS, teaching or research or government doctor. There is a vast scope for dental surgeons in India and abroad.
