VLB Trust was founded by Late Sri. V.L.. Balakrishna Naidu an esteemed industrialist and a philanthropist on 14th Nov. 1980. He was running many Textile mills and an Automobile Industry in Coimbatore and Tirupathy. His untamed desire to serve the community resulted in the birth of VLB Trust with the objective of providing quality education to the deprived. Sri. V.L. Balakrishna Naidu along with his grandson Late. Sri. S. Vankatram added two more colleges in Engineering and Arts & Science in the name of Sri Krishna Institutions. Later a Management Institution was also established under Sri Krishna banner. At present Smt. S. Malarvizhi wife of Late Sri. S. Vankatram is the Chairperson and Managing Trustee.

The Trust has under its management nine educational institutions ranging from Primary Schools to Polytechnic College, Arts& Science Colleges, Engineering Colleges and Management Schools. These institutions are situated near Kuniamuthur, adjoining the National Highway No: 47. At present more than 10,000 students are studying in their institutions run by the trust. The Objective of the Trust is to serve the deprived section of the society.

Mechanical Engineering is the application of the principles of physics in the analysis, design, manufacturing and maintenance of mechanical systems. Mechanical engineering is one of the broadest and most versatile of the engineering professions. Department of Mechanical Engineering was established in the year 1998 and was accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA). The department comprises of major areas viz. Thermal Engineering, Design & Dynamics, and Manufacturing Engineering. The specializations of faculty members cover all major areas of Mechanical Engineering. The department has adequate faculty members, most of them having pursued/ pursuing their Ph.D.
