The Loyola-ICAM College of Engineering and Technology (LICET) is an engineering and technology school in Chennai, India. It is approved by AICTE and affiliated with the Anna University, Chennai. It is a Christian Minority college, founded in 2010 by the Jesuits as part of the Chennai Jesuit Mission’s efforts to empower the Dalits, the poor and the marginalized.
The college offers courses at undergraduate levels (Bachelors) in engineering and technology, including Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Computer Science Engineering and Information Technology. In 2015-16 the sanctioned intake was 60/course, but 120 for Mechanical Engineering.
One aspect of Loyola College’s affiliation with the Catholic Institute of Arts & Business (ICAM) in Lille, France, is the Master of Engineering degree for which Loyola-ICAM students may study for two years in France, after finishing their Bachelor studies in India. Students at Lille, in turn, can spend their fifth year of studies for the Master of Engineering in India.

The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) has been functioning since the inception of the college from 2008. Currently, it offers a four-year Under-Graduate programme, B.E. Electrical and Electronics Engineering with a sanctioned intake of 60. The Department has well-qualified, experienced and dedicated team of faculty members with specialization in various fields like Power Systems, Power Electronics and Drives, Applied Electronics, Energy Engineering, etc. Two of our faculty members are Doctorates and nine of them are pursuing Ph.D. One of our faculty is a recognized Research Supervisor, who is guiding three research scholars. Two faculty members are Senior Members of IEEE and many faculty members are members of IET and ISTE.
The infrastructure and lab facilities are upgraded from time to time and provide adequate opportunities for students and researchers to learn and innovate. Students are given wide practical exposure and hands-on training in various domains and recent software such as SCILAB, MATLAB and AUTOCAD during laboratory sessions. The Department has established Industry-Institute Interaction, through which students undergo implant training, internships, industry specific projects and also get placement opportunities. The Department has the credit of consistently producing a good number of university rank holders every academic year and also bags a good placement record. The Department organizes guest lectures, workshops, seminars, symposiums and technical contests to showcase the talent of our students. The Department offers Value Added Programs in association with industries to enhance the employability skills of the students. The college has gone the extra mile of exposing students to system discovery, system analysis and mini-projects in the I, II and III year, respectively, helping them go beyond the Anna University syllabus. The III year students gain international exposure through their participation in summer programme in ICAM, France.
