Vinayaka Mission’s Kirupananda Variyar Medical College, Salem was started in 1995, affiliated to The Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University, Tamil Nadu. It became a constituent college of Vinayaka Mission’s Research Foundation in 2004. The institution is located in the rural area of Salem, South India in a vast area of 51 acres. The institution is running UG and PG programmes with 23 well established departments recognized by Medical Council of India. (VMRF).
The institution has limpid vision of providing service to the humanity at large by making available the best form health care to the local community. It provides able governance and leadership to translate this vision into action through its high quality medical education and advancement of medical programme to achieve national and international health goals. The hospital has 560 beds with best of world class facilities made available at an affordable cost to the community with all innovative and sophisticated state-of-the-art equipment and teaching facilities. The hospital is having consultancy services, tie-ups with Govt. of Tamil Nadu.

All the departments are having adequate space and are well equipped, ICT enabled air conditioned lecture halls with latest audio visual teaching aids are provided. The institution has both internal and external quality assurance cell for promoting the quality of academic, administrative and research activities.The institution is encouraging our faculty to perform research activities both National and International level providing incentives and funds as per research guidelines of Vinayaka Missions University. The institutions has two medical journals NJBMS and Rural Medicine. There are four conferences (national & international) conducted in last five years. Our faculties have published more than 400 publications in national and international journals with high impact factor. The faculty development programme conducted by Medical Education Unit as per the Medical Council of India norms, to train the young medical faculty periodically.

The main objective of the program is to offer educational programs of International Standard to prepare students to become competent medical professionals with a holistic approach in a global environment.At the end of the undergraduate programme the objectives achieved shall be basic Medical training to diagnose and treat primary Health care problems, familiarization in the speciality and super speciality subjects enough to diagnose and direct the patient approprialty for secondary and tertiary Health problems. To bring awareness and implement all the national programmes such as Immunization programme, TB control programme, Malaria control programme, Filaria Eradication programme, AIDS Awareness programme, To fulfill the obligation to the community by achieving health for all through health education, and importance of sanitation and water supply.
