PSG College of Technology, an ISO 9001:2000 certified institution is one of the foremost institutions founded by the PSG & Sons’ charities trust (1926). The college was established in the year 1951 and the founders decided to locate it in the same campus as the PSG Industrial institute for effective industry-institute interaction. The college today has strength of about 8500+ with engineering and technology departments besides the computer applications, management sciences, basic sciences and humanities departments.
The institute offers three 5-year integrated sandwich engineering courses which combines class room coaching with industrial training, one of the few in the country to offer such a course. Among the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes offered by the college, many are accredited by the National Board of Accreditation of the All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE). Being autonomous, the college frames its own curricula, updates syllabus, introduces new courses and is empowered to administer its own evaluation system. Since 1960, PSG College of Technology has been publishing the “PSG Design Data Book”, the engineering Data hand book, used throughout the country by engineers and students.

The department of Textile Technology educates undergraduate and graduate students for careers in the fiber, textile, and apparel and retail industry. The mission of the department is accomplished by offering Bachelor of Textile Technology (full-time & part-time), Master of Textile Technology (full-time & part-time), and doctoral programme(PhD). The department is one of the oldest departments started in the year 1965. These programs are designed to provide the student with a thorough background in fundamental concepts of scientific, technological, and management principles, and ability to define and solve challenging technological and managerial problems. An essential component of the departments’ activity is the development of new knowledge through research and the subsequent transfer of knowledge to both textile complex and society.
