PSGRKCW is an autonomous institution, affiliated to Bharathiar University with ISO 9001:2008 certification.It is reaccredited by NAAC with CGPA of 3.58 on a four point scale(3rd cycle). The Institution feels happy and proud on being awarded with ‘College of Excellence’ status by UGC on 03.08.2016 in the second phase itself. Outcome Based Education based curriculum introduced from 2016-17 onwards developing a clear set of learning outcomes around which all of the system’s components are focused. All science departments are included under the star-college scheme by DBT. PSGRKCW offers 29 UG, 12 PG, three PG Diploma and & MPhil and PhD in 11 disciplines. New skill oriented UGC sponsored B.Voc degree programmes and Community College with multiple exits such as Diploma / Advanced Diploma introduced in 2014-15 ensure the development of skilled personnel.

The PSGR Krishnammal College for women has been the first college in Tamil Nadu to offer B.Com Degree course exclusively for women in the year 1970, now nurturing 360 students at the under graduate level, under the aided stream. Along with aided B.Com, the College also has 6 other specialization in B.Com Degree Course viz., B.Com (CA), B.Com (e.com),B.Com (AM), B.Com(PA),B.Com(A&F) and B.Com(FS). There are 360 students in the aided B.Com & around 1100 students in self finance Courses. There are 9 aided faculties and 32 faculties in Self finance stream of which 3 have completed PhD and more than 25 are pursuing their PhD.
